Bekkou Misedashi Kanzashi

Posted by pontocho-sl Friday, August 14, 2009
A Misedashi is when young girls make their debut as maiko, or apprentice geiko, dressed in priceless formal black kimono and obi with equally precious hair ornaments. They introduce themselves with their new names to the owners and mistresses of local teahouses and establishments. These finely crafted kanzashi are fully sculpted and including all formal bekkou (tortoiseshell) parts, Hanagushi, Hanakazashi, Kanoko Dome, Miokuri & seasonal Tama.
